Your Plano optometrist Dr. Mark Taroyan, is certified by the Texas Optometry Board, and is a highly trained therapeutic optometrist with years of unparalleled experience in his field. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Munich in Germany, going on to obtain his Doctorate in Optometry from the University of Houston in Texas. He underwent residency training in ocular diseases at the Vision Education Foundation in Oklahoma City.
In addition, Dr. Taroyan received extensive advanced training from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, completing 100 hours of didactic courses training in Ocular Therapy. Few optometrists decide to pursue this kind of advanced professional training, but Dr. Taroyan wanted to further develop and attune his keen ability to diagnose and treat various forms of eye diseases.
Dr. Taroyan has been honored by his peers as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO), an honor given to those professionals who successfully present a number of significant medical optometric cases to be reviewed by a board of examiners and defended both written and orally. He belongs to the American Optometric Association and the German Society of Contact Lens Specialists. Dr. Taroyan completed the requirements for board certification in Alberta, Canada, as well as Texas.
The doctor is multi-lingual. He started his practice in West Plano in 1985 and continues to serve the community providing comprehensive eye examinations, eye disease management, emergency care, laser vision management, contact lens services, and consultations. He is involved in programs designed to help the less fortunate and travels to Third World Countries to offer eye care to the poor.
Dr. Taroyan has participated in Vision USA since its inception in 1991, providing patients under economic hardship with comprehensive eye care. The doctor also offers his services and products to the Plano's chapter of the Children's Advocacy Center and City House in Plano.
